Recommendations for Universities with the Best Veterinary Faculty

1. Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB)

Among the website of various universities that hold lectures for veterinary medicine, the faculty of veterinary medicine, which is one of the 9 faculties at IPB, can be said to be the oldest. This faculty was pioneered in 1907 through the Cursus tot Opleiding for Indische Veeartsen.

Even though it only has one department, IPB veterinary medicine has several educational programs. For the undergraduate or undergraduate program, you will study for 4 years or 8 semesters with a total of 158 credits. 2. Airlangga University (UNAIR)

If in West Java there is IPB, then in East Java there is Airlangga University or UNAIR which has a Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with the largest veterinary hospital. Even though it is not as old as veterinary medicine at IPB, the study programs provided by Unair are much more extensive, especially for Masters and Doctoral degrees.

This faculty, which was founded in 1962, has a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine, a master’s degree in vaccinology and immunotherapy, veterinary disease and public health, reproductive biology, and veterinary agribusiness. Meanwhile, for doctoral degrees, there are veterinary science majors and veterinary professional education.

Unair Veterinary Medicine also opens study programs outside the main campus for Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine. The location is in Banyuwangi so for those of you who want to study to become a veterinarian but live in the Banyuwangi area, you can join the program.

3. Gadjah Mada University (UGM)

After discussing campuses in the West and East, there are also campuses located in central Java, more precisely in Yogyakarta. You can find the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Gadjah Mada University which is located on Jl. Fauna No. 2 Karangmalang, Yogyakarta.

At this faculty there are three program options, starting from undergraduate, professional and postgraduate programs with the main major being veterinary medicine. For the undergraduate program, you will study for 4 years or 8 semesters with a total weight of 148 credits consisting of 138 credits of compulsory courses, 10 credits of elective courses.

For those of you who want to become a veterinarian, continue with the professional program which is completed in approximately 1 year with a weight of 24 credits and 3 credits for KKN. Meanwhile, for postgraduate studies, there are Masters and Doctoral education programs.

4. Udayana University (UNUD)

For those of you who are in Bali and want to learn about veterinary medicine, you don’t need to go all the way to Java. Bali also has its own veterinary faculty at Udayana University since it was first established in 1962.

Different from previous universities, at UNUD you can only pursue a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine and also a profession as a veterinarian (drh.). If you want to continue to a higher level then choose one of the universities on the island of Java mentioned above.

Undergraduate level with a S.KH degree will study for 4 years or 8 semesters with a total load of 152 credits. Meanwhile, for professional or co-assistant programs, the length of education is 12 to 15 months with a total load of 31 credits. So at least, the total education you have to take is around 5 years or more.
